Topic: Oral Health Considerations for Adults with Neurodivergence
This ASSCID Study Club session will focus on oral health considerations for adults with neurodivergence.
Topics will include understanding neurodivergent individuals, clinical assessment, and practical approaches to modifying dental care.
The session will provide practical strategies to support patient-centred care and improve clinical outcomes in this population.

About the Presenter
Dr Gunjan Verma is a Specialist in Special Needs Dentistry, providing patient-centred care for individuals with medical, psychiatric, intellectual, and physical disabilities.
He completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the University of Adelaide in 2013 before practising in Tamworth, where he developed a strong interest in caring for patients with special healthcare needs.
This interest led him to the Westmead Centre for Oral Health as a resident in Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, and Special Care Dentistry, where he gained extensive experience in the multidisciplinary management of medically and behaviourally complex patients. He later returned to Adelaide to undertake a year of research in Special Needs Dentistry, followed by a three-year specialist training program, completed in 2022.
Dr Verma now practises privately in Newcastle, NSW, and serves as a Visiting Specialist with Hunter New England Oral Health Service.
